Many people think that anyone who can speak two languages can also translate, so many translations are done by non-professionals. At AbroadLink, we believe strongly in the superior quality offered by professional translators and the impact that it can have on your company's image. Our translators are trained in translation (undergraduate or post-graduate courses), translate into their native languages, master the source language and have thorough understanding of its culture, know how to use at least one translation memory program (Trados, Déjà Vu, Star Transit or SDLX), work exclusively for the translation industry and have experience with the type of texts they translate. |

The vast majority of translation projects face time limitations. At AbroadLink, we are aware of this and make an active effort to deliver your translation project in the shortest timeframe possible. Even so, we recommend that you make plans for your translation needs as early as possible. The time factor may have a negative effect on the cost and quality of your translations. |

The application of technology to technical translation, localization and website globalization results in greater efficiency. This means faster service, higher quality and more savings for you: the use of translation memories allows for the systematic application of price discounts for textual content already translated for your company; we deal with virtually any type of format included in website designs (asp, cfm, html, xhtml, php, jpg, js, gif, tiff, swf...); our preference is to use Catalyst or your proprietary tool in software localization. |

Often the text to be translated or the documents to be laid out will contain confidential information about you or your company (for example: contracts, balance sheets, business communications, judicial rulings, delicate internal business information, patents...). Translation is not about words but about meaning. The translation process can bring about more than one result. This explains why different translations of the same text, while all may be correct, can have different effects. For this reason, at AbroadLink we apply the Skopos translation theory: the translated text needs to accomplish its goal (for example: persuading someone to buy a product, giving exact information even if it requires sacrificing style, receiving approval by a public institution...). To achieve this, it is crucial that cultural aspects be considered during the translation process. |

For this reason, we may ask you, or your contact person, to collaborate when a clarification is needed regarding the text or to deal with some technical issues involved in the project. |
